Ohio Carry Laws: What You Need to Know

Constitutional Carry. While this allows you to carry without obtaining a permit, it’s important to understand that it does not replace the value of training, education, and preparation. Constitutional Carry requires no license or formal training, but you must be at least 21 years old and legally eligible to possess a firearm, and it only applies within the state of Ohio.

An Ohio Concealed Handgun License (CHL), on the other hand, requires a background check and completion of a certified training course. It is recognized in many other states, which is especially important for those who travel, and it provides a deeper understanding of the law, safe handling practices, and responsible decision-making. It also demonstrates a higher level of commitment to carrying responsibly.

The reality is simple—just because you can carry without training doesn’t mean you should. Carrying a handgun is about more than legality; it’s about confidence, awareness, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

At SA4 Training Solutions, LLC, we focus on helping everyday individuals—especially new shooters—build that confidence in a safe, welcoming, and professional environment. Our CHL classes go beyond the basics by emphasizing Ohio law, safe handling, and real-world application so you can carry with clarity and confidence. If you’re ready to take the next step, we’re here to help guide you.
